Wale celebrated nabbing his first No. 1 record, The Album About Nothing, by performing a “secret” concert in D.C.’s Northeast on Saturday.

Held in the parking lot beside Smith Commons, Wale — reuniting with Tre of UCB — did a two-hour run down of his greatest hits, including “MMG Under God,” “Slight Work,” “Pretty Girls,” “Bait,” “Lotus Flower Bomb,” “Ambition,” “Bad,” “The Body” and of course the go-go infused track, “Clappers.” He ended the set by showcasing his feature on “No Hands!”

D.C. supported the first rapper to make it out the District with Phil Ade and Fat Trel showing up on stage. Fab Award Hall of Famer DJ Quicksilva was also onstage along with Suite Nation’s Ian Callendar.

Along with other local businesses, Shoe City supported the concert — even giving a  bag of Reebok Question Mids to Wale to sign. He then threw the shoes out into the crowd, in the middle of performing “The White Shoes” from his latest album, which were snatched by some lucky music lovers.

Wale is one of the few that can bring out thousands on short notice. Salute!
